ETHOnline 2024 begins today. The event is a three-week online hackathon, with cutting-edge hacking projects — and cash prizes — offered by some of the most exciting companies in Web3. Teams from around the world will compete to solve problems set by leaders in decentralized tech, building innovative solutions that can make a real difference to the crypto community.

This year, Blockless is an ETHOnline partner. Blockless is the world’s first compute network powered by everyday devices. Our approach to resource-sharing involves smart, real-time orchestration to match users’ computing resources to the tasks that are best suited to their device capabilities.

This year, we’re staging three contests for ETHOnline participants. These challenges present both opportunities to win cash prizes and to get an intimate look at some of the more exciting ideas, code and technology in the space at present, presenting a genuinely different future for the internet and the people that use it.

Hackers who win the Best dApp Built on Blockless competition receive a prize of $1,650. This contest, as the name suggests, will be judged on the strength of a single application developed by participants which makes use of Blockless’ network and technology. Teams might focus on using triggers for intent-driven execution; impress through strong implementations of consensus-driven execution frameworks like pBFT, Raft and aggregation; or opt to deploy a Blockless Web App.

↘ The winners of the Best Platform Enhancement prize will receive $2,000. To impress the panel, competitors must propose novel ways that Blockless could be enhanced at the platform level. These ideas could take the form of SDK improvements for the Typescript, Rust, Go and AssemblyScript languages; execution-flow control tweaks; or protocol-level changes for the most ambitious hackers.

↘ Finally, the Best Tooling for the Blockless Network prize — of $1,350 — will be awarded team that builds the strongest developer tool for use with Blockless. Teams might build tools to improve developer experience, like visual code extensions; tools designed for runtime debugging and execution; or handy starter templates for Blockless’ CLI.

Wherever in the world you might be, we look forward to seeing you — and exploring your biggest ideas — at ETHOnline 2024. We hope you’ll consider building with Blockless.
